The greatest protest that I know against a system built around manipulating folks to feel they are missing something is to re-discover the part of ourselves that needs absolutely nothing. The part of ourselves that is intrinsically and unconditionally at ease and fulfilled. The part ourselves that is so filled with awe of the mystery of our presence that all other things pale in comparison to this awesome mystery.
If one is able to find fulfillment in the "presence of presence" than I am willing to bet that person will become happier. That is, one can learn to practice a fulfillment in their bodies and minds that is not based on conditions, lack, gain or loss.
If collectively we want to watch the worst aspects of consumerism perish, we have to wake up from the collective spell we have been put under (that is reinforced everywhere we turn). That is, we have to re-discover that our true value and capacity for fulfillment is intrinsic to presence itself.
Join me next Saturday in learning to practice unconditional fulfillment by gathering and just being together. Without expectation, let us revel in presence itself discovering the pure fulfillment that isn't based on gain or loss, achievement or failure, accomplishment or outcome.
